Draft of Bangladesh flag vessels protection bill approved
DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019, (BSS) – The cabinet gave approval in principle to the
draft of the Bangladesh Flag Vessel (protection) Bill 2019 on Monday.
With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, the draft was passed with
provision for the vessels to carry 50 percent overseas cargo from the
existing 40 percent, said a press release.
This draft law will be finally approved after vetting of the legislative
department, the release said.
As per the new law, Bangladeshi flag Vessels will carry minimum 50 percent
products of the total carried products in the overseas trade of Bangladesh.
