RMP launches police week for ensuring better services

RAJSHAHI, Jan 28, 2019 (BSS) – Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) here
today launched its police week-2019 aims at extending quality services to the
public in general.

To mark the occasion, RMP took out a large procession from Shaheb Bazar
Zero Point and ended at the same area after parading some of the
thoroughfares. A discussion meeting was also held at the Zero Point marking
the week-launching ceremony.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the
meeting as chief guest with RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter in the chair.
Additional Commissioner Sujayet Islam, Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Haider
Chowdhury, City unit Awami League General Secretary Dablu Sarker and district
unit general secretary Asaduzzaman also spoke.

Mayor Liton urged all the RMP members to earn confidence and trust of the
people through discharging duties with utmost sincerity and honesty.

He asked them to launch fight against all sorts of social crimes including
drug-addiction and terrorism to free the society from the curses.

Liton also urged them to dedicate themselves to stamp out criminals
including militants and terrorists for ensuring peace and security of the
people.

He said that police will have to come forward with all their efforts to
keep up law and order in the city at any cost to fulfill the hopes and
aspirations of the general people. Police must come forward first to ensure
rule of law, he added.

Mayor Liton also said police force will have to play supportive role for
successful implementation of the present government’s vision-2021 as the
success of a government largely depends on law and order situation everywhere
in the society.

In his remarks, Hafiz Akter told the meeting that the RMP has recently
formed ‘Crises Response Team (CRT)’ with the main thrust on facing some major
unruly and subversive activities and violence, including terrorism, militancy
and drug-trafficking in the metropolis.

The 24-member team has been formed in similarity with the team of Special
Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) through time-fitting training.
