10 collect nomination forms for by-polls to DNCC mayoral post
DHAKA, Jan 25, 2019 (BSS) – Some ten persons today collected nomination forms for
contesting the by-election to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral post.
The Awami League (AL) nomination seekers are: DNCC Acting Mayor Jamal Mostafa,
former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA)
President Md Atiqul Islam, Rashel Ashwqui, Md Yaad Ali Fakir, Md Qutub Uddin, Mohammad
Arif Hossain (Arefin Mollah), Shahidullah Osmani, Khairul Majid Mahmud, Adam Tamiji
Haque and Md. Shakhawat Hossain.
The by-election to the DNCC mayoral post will be held on February 28.
Elections to the councilor and reserved councillor posts in the newly extended 36
wards in DNCC and 18 wards under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will be held on
the same day.
As per the Election Commission (EC) schedule, the last date of submission of
nomination papers is January 30 next and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held
on February 2. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is February 9.
