PM mourns death of Comrade Nabi

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock at the death of elderly politician and Chairman of the Control Commission of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Comrade Mohammad Nabi.

In a condolence message, the prime minister recalled Comrade Nabi’s contributions to the country’s Communist movement, saying that he was involved in the movement from his student life.

“The CPB leader played a leading role in the anti-British movement and the great war of liberation as well as the struggle for freeing the country from exploitation,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina said Comrade Nabi, who was very close to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also played an important role in the struggle for establishing socialism, one of the main principles of 1972 constitution.

The premier said Comrade Nabi, known as sincere and soft spoken, also could take close others easily. “The country has lost a tested soldier of progressive and anti-communalism movement in his death,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
