Ex-Mohila AL president Ashrafunnesa passes away

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2019 (BSS) – Ashrafunnesa Mosharraf, former president of
Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, ex-parliament member and a valiant freedom
fighter, died of kidney ailments today while undergoing treatment at a city
hospital.

She was 74.

She is survived by three sons and four daughters. Ashrafunnesa breathed
her last around 8.15 am at a city hospital while undergoing treatment for
kidney ailments.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock
and sorrow at her death.

She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed
profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Her first Namaz-e-Janaza of the former MP was held on the south plaza of
the Jatiya Sangsad.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister
Obaidul Quader, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah, cabinet members,
parliament members, a cross section of people, well-wishers and admires
attended the Janaza..

A guard of honor was given to the valiant freedom fighter for her
contribution to the country’s Liberation War.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Road Transport and Bridges Minister
Obaidul Quader placed a wreath on her coffin.

Later, AL leaders led by Obaidul Quader also paid their last tributes to
Ashrafunnesa by placing a wreath on her coffin.

On behalf of parliament members club, whips of 10th Jatiya Sangsad Atikur
Rahman Atik and Iqbalur Rahim, Dhaka district administration and Mohila Awami
League leaders also paid homage by placing wreaths on the coffin.

Former agriculture minister and AL presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury,
MP, and AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap also paid their last
tributes to Ashrafunnesa.
