Ansar clinch National Women’s Handball title

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh Ansar clinched title of the EXIM Bank 29th National Women’s Handball competition berating Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation by 29-28 goals in the final held on Friday at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.

The winners led the first half by 14-13 goals.

Ismat Ara Nishi of Ansar was named the best player and player of the tournament for her impressive performance throughout the competition.

Earlier, on way the final, BJMC beat Bangladesh Police Handball team by 31-15 goals after leading the first half by 17-07 goals in the first semifinal while Bangladesh Ansar defeated Jamalpur District Sports Association (DSA) by 31-09 goals after dominating the first half by 19-06 goals in the second semis.

Meanwhile, Jamalpur DSA finished third position in the meet outplaying Bangladesh Police Handball team by 30-29 goals after the match was locked 24-24 goals at the breather.

Mishti of Jamalapur was named the best player of the match.

Sponsored by EXIM Bank, a total of 14 district and services teams are taking part in the meet.

The participating teams are Feni, Jamalpur, Noagaon, Narail, Panchagarh, Gopalganj, Faridpur, Dinajpur, Chudanga, Kushtia DSAs, and Bangladesh Ansar, Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation.
