DHAKA, Jan 14, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid is set to witness Bangladesh Army’s annual winter exercise at the offshore island of Swarna Dweep at Noakhali’s Hatia upazila today.
ISPR and Bangabhaban officials said the “maneuver exercise -2017-18” would be staged at the island, also called as “Jahaijjarchor”, with army’s 33rd and 17th infantry divisions being the key performers of the event.
They said navy and air force units would also join the exercise as part of demonstration of coordinated operations of the three armed forces.
Army chief General Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Huq would receive the president at the island, developed by army’s 33 infantry division.
Officials said President Hamid would also distribute winter clothes among the Sawrna Dweep residents and construction work of a 31-bed hospital and military dairy farm at the island.
