Nuruzzaman urges journalists to ensure objective journalism
RANGPUR, Jan 13, 2019 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minsiter Nuruzzaman Ahmed,
MP, today called upon the journalists for taking part in the development
process with objective journalism.
“Journalists are globally considered as the mirror of the society and they
can largely contribute a lot to accelerate national development through
serving news based on facts and findings with objectivity to avoid
confusion,” he said.
The Minister, also a freedom fighter, said this while addressing a views-
sharing meeting with officials of the district administration, civil society
members and journalists at the Circuit House conference room in Lalmonirhat
this afternoon as the chief guest.
Expressing his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for making
him a minister as a gift considering his performances in the past, Nuruzzaman
said any citizen could meet him on any necessity.
“From a local union parisahd chairman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has
made me a full minister….I am a man of the people,” he said.
The Minister said Lalmonirhat was a neglected and backward district in the
past when the district was being termed as ‘Mofiz’. But, Awami League (AL)
has bid a farewell to the ‘derogatory’ word ‘Mofiz’ as well as extreme
poverty after coming to power.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made all developments visible during her
tenures in the office improving livelihoods and standard of living of the
common people whereas the BNP-Jamaat alliance government did not develop the
country,” he said.
He also sought continuous cooperation of the district administration,
members of the civil society, journalists and every citizen in the society to
transform Lalmonirhat into a model district for development in the country.
Organised by the district administration, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner
Shafiul Arif, Police Super SM Rashidul Haque, Senior Vice-president of
district AL Sirajul Haque, its Joint General Secretary Advocate Badal Ashraf,
President of district Jubo League Moral Humayun Kobir, President of district
Swechchasebak League Saiful Islam and President of district Chhatra League
Abu Bakar Siddique, among others, were present.
