Dhaka Dynamites secure emphatic win in BPL opener

DHAKA, Jan 5, 2019 (BSS)- It was an all-round performance came from Dhaka Dynamites helped them to earn an emphatic 83-run victory over Rajshahi Kings in the one of the opening day’s matches of the Bangladesh Premier League T20 held on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur here.

Chasing a massive winning target of 190 runs set by Dhaka, Rajshahi Kings found the chase stiff and eventually dismissed at a paltry total of 106 in 18.2 overs.

Rajshahi Kings suffered serious batting jolt in the beginning and lost seven wickets inside 10.1 overs in the face of devastating bowling attacks by the Dhaka’s bowlers.

Rajshahi Kings’ batsmen failed to stage a fight back losing their wicket in regular interval. Pakistani recruit Mohammad Hafeez top scored with 29 runs followed by Arafat Sunny (18), Mustafizur Rahman (11n.o) and Luarie Evans (10) who were able to reach the double figure.

Pacer Rubel Hossain was the pick of Dhaka’s bowler as he claimed three Rajshahi’s wickets conceding seven runs while Mohor Sheikh supported him with two wickets for 24 runs.

Earlier a perfect opening standby Hazratullah Zazai and Sunil Narine helped Dhaka Dynamites to post a challenging total of 189 for 5 from their allotted 20 overs after they were forced to bat first by Rajshahi Kings.

The left handed batsman blasted 41-ball off 78 runs hitting four boundaries and seven over boundaries before fell to Mehidy Hasan while West Indies recruit Sunil Narine hammered 28-ball off 38-run that studded with four boundaries and two over boundaries before he was the victim of Mohammad Hafeez delivery.

After the departure of two openers bowlers brought back Rajshahi Kings at match picking up some wickets but Shuvagata Hom and Andre Russell’s breezy 47-runs unbroken fifth wicket stand helped Dhaka to set up a challenging target for Rajshahi.

Shuvagata blazed 14-ball off 38 runs hitting five boundaries and two over boundaries while Russell supported him with 19-ball off 21-run laced with two boundaries and one over boundary.

Left-arm orthodox Arafat Sunny was the most successful bowler as he claimed two Dhaka’s wickets conceding 23 runs.
