BLAKETS-DISTRIBUTION
Warm clothes distributed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Jan 4, 2019 (BSS) – With the increase of cold wave here,
district administration has intensified warm cloth distribution among cold
affected people of the district to mitigate their sufferings.
Officials said District Relief and Rehabilitation office received a total
of 41,700 pieces of blankets from the Ministry of Disaster Management and
Relief this season to distribute those to the cold victims.
The blankets are being distributed to the cold-hit distressed and poor
people of all the seven upazilas here under the direct supervision of upazila
administration and local government bodies.
Sadar UNO Uttam Kumar Roy said the warm clothes were distributed among the
cold affected poor people in all the 13 unions of the upazila.
About 38,000 pieces of blankets have so far been disbursed among cold
affected people in the district and the rest are being distributed to them,
said district relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali.
Deputy commissioner Abdul Matin said instructions were given to the
upazila administrations and local government bodies to distribute the
blankets among the victims properly.
