EC pondering to hold upazila parishad election in March
DHAKA, Jan 02, 2019 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) wants to hold upazila parishad election in March this year across the country.
“The commission is thinking to hold upazila parishad polls in March as SSC and HSC examinations will be held in February and April respectively,” EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told journalists at Nirbachan Bhaban here.
The election of 487 upazila parishads was held in six phases from February to May in 2014, he said, adding that the election will be held with electoral symbols of political parties.
“The schedule of the election would be announced in the month of January or February this year, if the election is held in March,” Helaluddin said.
