DHAKA, Dec 27, 2018 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League today called upon the people to remain alert so that BNP-Jamaat alliance cannot create anarchy across the country tomorrow, fearing their defeat in the parliamentary election slated for Sunday.

“BNP-Jamaat may carry out terrorist acts and create anarchy throughout the country tomorrow. They may make videos by printing fake ballot papers. The people will have to remain alert about such conspiracies,” AL joint general secretary Abdur Rahman told a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office here.

He claimed the BNP-Jamaat clique is hatching different conspiracies fearing their ‘sure defeat’ in the election and they could hatch more horrible conspiracies in the days to come.

AL joint general secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, science and technology affairs secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, education and human resources affairs secretary Shamsunnahar Chapa, deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin, deputy office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and All European unit of AL president Anil Das Gupta and the USA unit of AL president Siddiqur Rahman were present in the press conference, among others.

Abdur Rahman said the candidates of different political parties all over the country are conducting their last-moment election campaigns in a festive mood with spontaneous participation of voters. He said the capital city’s rail stations, launch and bus terminals are witnessing a huge crowds as many people are leaving Dhaka for casting their votes in the national election which usually turns into a festival in Bangladesh.

But, ferocity is being noticed along with frustration among the BNP-Jamaat and Oikyafront leaders and workers, Rahman said.

He said five leaders and workers of AL have already been killed and many party offices and election camps across the country came under attacks carried out by BNP-Jamaat.

Even after that, BNP-Jamaat could not implement their conspiracies as their falsehood and sabotage did not bring any result for the party, Rahman said.

The AL leader said BNP leaders and workers are not seen in the election field as they are hatching anti-state conspiracies.

He said BNP’s fugitive acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s associate was arrested with Taka 8 crore in cash and a cheque for Taka 10 crore at Motijheel area on the charge of influencing the election.

The AL leader said the money of Pakistani spy agency ISI came to the country via Dubai.

He said the Pakistani spy agency is spending the money through the BNP-Jamaat clique under an orchestrated plan to turn Bangladesh into a failed state.

Rahman said now the BNP’s prime target is to foil the election or make the election questionable.

That is why they have resorted to violence without conducting election campaigns, he said, adding that the BNP-Jamaat clique is spreading falsehood over the election and making derogatory comments against police and journalists.

“How those, who are making such indecent behaviors with journalist and police before election, will behave with the people if they elected?” he questioned.

The AL leader said if the BNP-Jamaat clique is elected to power, the country will fall in darkness.
