DHAKA, Dec 24, 2018 (BSS)- Turning down the BNP’s accusations that the party is being restricted from carrying out polls campaign by the ruling party men, Grand Alliance candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency Rashed Khan Menon today said the BNP candidates are dubiously repeating such false claims to serve its ulterior motive.

“BNP candidates are frequently claiming to be barred from election campaign by the ruling Awami League …..The party has resorted to making false allegations without showing evidences on behalf of their claims,” said Menon, also chief of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, while participating in an electoral view-exchange meeting in city’s New Eskaton area this afternoon.

The BNP itself is refrained from any electioneering campaign and contrary to its stance the party has lodged complaints to the Election Commission (EC) citing false accusations of intimidation in polls campaign, he said.

Menon, also social welfare minister, said BNP’s popularity already has reached to its lowest ebb and it has already sensed the party’s sure defeat in the election.

With Vice President of Dhaka City (South) unit of Awami League Abul Bashar in the chair, the meeting also was attended, among others, by ward no-19 Awami League president Abdus Salam and its general secretary Sarwar Hossen, Workers Party central publicity secretary Alamgir Ratan and its member Diponkor Saha Dipu.
