BNP wants to stay away from polls: Menon

DHAKA, Dec 22, 2018 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said BNP is trying to stay away from coming 11th parliamentary election as their defeat is a must.

“As the election is coming closer, BNP’s defeat is also becoming more and more certain …Now their leaders are shifting their focus from election campaign gradually,” he said.

Menon, also the President of Bangladesh Worker’s Party, contesting from Dhaka-8 constituency with symbol ‘boat’ was speaking at an election rally at Fuller road at Dhaka University organised by Awami League Ward no 21 unit in the city, said a press release.

Saying the victory of the symbol ‘boat’ is certain in the upcoming polls, he added, “Now BNP and Oikyafront have realized that the message of development in the country has reached the grassroots people and they would cast their vote for AL.”

“All people are happy with visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina…they are praising the achievements of the government”, he said.

The programme was presided over by Ward no 21 AL President Advocate Abdul Hamid while Bangladesh Worker’s Party central committee member Towhidul Islam, Dipankar Saha Dipu and DU Chhatra League General Secretary Saddam Hossain were present, among others.
