Lewis’s blaze steers WI to 190 against Bangladesh in 3rd T20I

DHAKA, Dec 22, 2018 (BSS) – Opener Evin Lewis scored a blistering half century saw West Indies piled up a challenging total of 190 for all in 19.2 overs against Bangladesh in the third and final T20I at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur on Saturday.

The two openers – Evin Lewis and Shy Hope – gave West Indies an explosive start contributing 76 runs for the opening stand before Shakib Al Hasan broke the partnership removing Shai Hope for 23 runs.

Lewis, fond his form today after poor performance of two matches of the series, completed 18-ball off 50-run, was aggressive with bat in the beginning of the innings. He punished the Tigers’ bowlers mercilessly hitting boundaries all square of the park, after Bangladesh put West Indies to bat first.

The Tigers, however, fight back in the match with a few breakthroughs but Lewis continued his onslaught at the other end. Mahmudullah then tilted things in favour of Tigers with double strikes to remove Lewis and Hetmyer off back-to-back deliveries.

The left handed Caribbean batsman blasted 36-ball off 89 runs hitting six boundaries and eight over boundaries before he was clean bowled by Mahmudullah.

Middle order batsman Nicholas Pooran smashed 24-ball off 29-run hitting two boundaries and equal number of over boundaries while Nicholas Pooran the other West Indies batsman reached the double figure making 19 runs.

Wickets fell in regular interval but the Tigers’ bowlers could not prevent West Indies to post a challenging total.

Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan all shared three West Indies’ wickets conceding 18, 33 and 37 runs respectively.

Brief score:

West Indies – 190 for all in 19.2 overs Lewis 89, Pooran 29, Hope 23, Powell 19, Mahmudullah 3/ 18 Mustafizur 3/33 Shakib Al Hasan 3/37.
