Bashundhora Kings storm into Independence Cup Football final
DHAKA, Dec 20, 2018 (BSS)- The new powerhouse Bashundhora Kings stormed
into the final of the Independence Cup Football beating Abahani Limited by 7-
6 goals in the keenly contested second semi-final held at Bangabandhu
National Stadium on Thursday.
Bashundhora Kings will now meet Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the battle of
final scheduled to be held on Wednesday (December 26) at the same venue.
State-owned Bangladesh Television will telecast the match live that will
kick off at 4:30 pm.
The day’s match rolled into a tie breaker after the regulation time ended
in a 1-1 goal draw. The match also ended by 5-5 goals draw in a penalty
shoot-out which triggered the match to decide in a sudden death.
In the regulation time, Motin Mia put Bashundhora ahead in the 69th minute
while Belfort restored the parity for Abahani Limited in the 82nd t minute of
the match.
Earlier, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra booked their final spot of the
competition as they blanked Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals in the first
semifinal.
