11 fake DB men held in Ctg
CHITTAGONG, Jan 3, 2018 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of police in a
series of drives arrested 11 fake DB personnel from different parts of the
part city in the last couple of days.
Receiving several allegations that a group of miscreants was committing
robbery at different parts of Chittagong city and district identifying
themselves as DB men, the detectives decided to carry out drives to detain
them, DB sources said.
A DB team conducted the drives last night and today, and arrested 11
people, who allegedly committed robbery and mugged people identifying
themselves as detectives, additional deputy commissioner of Chittagong
Metropolitan Police (CMP) Mohammad Kamruzzaman said.
He said the DB also recovered two motorcycles, one CNG-three wheeler,
two jackets of DB police, a handcuff, a toy pistol, mobile phone sets and a
walkie-talkie from their possessions.
The arrestees were identified as Haradhan Das, 38, Mumtaj Uddin alias
Mamun, 35, Kaiser Hamid alias Razu, 35, Jahidul Azam, 35, Shahed Uddin Rana,
32, Shawkat Ali, 30, Selim Mahmud, 48, Rezaul Karim, 50, Rubel Khan, 32,
Jahidul Karim, 33, and Masud Uddin.
On December 28, 2017, a group of fake DB personnel picked up Imtiaz
Uddin Imon, a student of City College in Chittagong, identifying themselves
as DB men and snatched Tk 1.67 lakh from him in Kotwali area of the port
city.
Later, Imtiaz filed a case with Kotwali Police Station in connection
with the incident.
