2 Neo JMB men put on seven-day remand

CHITTAGONG, Jan 2, 2018 (BSS) – A Chittagong court today placed two Neo-
Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) men, on a seven-day remand in a case
filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Abu Salem Mohammad Noman, a Metropolitan Magistrate of Chittagong court
passed the order after Investigative Officer of the case and Counter
Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) Inspector Aftab Ahmed produced
Asfaqur Rahman alias Abu Zahir Al-Bangali, and Rakibul Hasan Jony alias Abu
Taif Al Bangali, before the court, seeking a ten-day remand for them.

Earlier, members of CTTC and Detective Branch (DB) of Police in a joint
drive arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Neo- JMB from
East Madarbari area under Sadarghat police station in the city last night.

CTTC inspector, Rajesh Barua, filed a case with Sadarghat thana under
Anti-terrorism Act against them.

The law enforcers also recovered eight hand grenades, two bombs and two
suicidal vests from their possession.

A A M Humayun Kabir, additional deputy commissioner of DB police, said a
CTTC team raided a five-storey building in Balurmat area of East Madarbari at
around 11.30 pm and arrested them with the explosives.

The arrested persons were identified as Asfaqur Rahman alias Abu Zahir Al-
Bangali, 22, of Mymensingh and Rakibul Hasan Jony alias Abu Taif Al Bangali,
19, of Muradnagar upazila under Comilla district.
