DHAKA, Dec 4, 2018 (BSS) – The Viqarunnisa Noon School and College (VNSC) authorities today suspended its morning shift-in-charge Zinnat Ara amid a strong public anger over suicide of ninth- grader Aritree Adhikari.
VNSC Governing Body president Golam Ashraf Talukder told BSS that the authorities of the institution issued a show-cause notice against Zinnat Ara asking why steps will not be taken against her.
“Zinnat was issued show-cause notice as we got allegation against her that she insulted the student. The teacher has to answer the notice within seven days. She was also asked to refrain from discharging her duties until the probe is completed over the suicide incident,” said Talukder.
Golam Ashraf also said that VNSC Principal Nazneen Ferdous was asked to give detailed explanation of the incident.
The education ministry and school authorities have formed separate probe bodies over the death of Aritree.
The committees are ordered to give the probe report within three days.
Aritree hanged herself in their house on Monday afternoon after she was scolded by her teachers over using mobile phone in examinations.
Her parents and protesters alleged that she committed suicide being unable to bear the insult of her father at the school.
