Ranga for turning Jatiya Party stronger democratic body

DHAKA, Dec 03, 2018 (BSS) – Jatiya Party (JAPA)’s newly appointed secretary general Mashiur Rahman Ranga today said the Jatiya Party will be turned into a stronger and vibrant democratic political organization through organizing leaders and workers at the grassroots.

“We will create more workers to further strengthen the Jatiya Party. I seek cooperation from all our leaders and workers and the mass media to this end,” he told journalists after taking the new charge at Party Chairman HM Ershad’s Banani office this afternoon, said a press release.

About the seat-sharing with partners of the grand alliance, Ranga said the Jatiya Party sought 52 seats from the alliance but the seat-sharing will be finalized after discussions with the alliance.

He said the seat-sharing of the grand alliance will be finalized by December 9 and no misunderstanding will crop up among the partners.

Ranga said if anyone of the party is found involved in money-making capitalizing on nomination process, organizational steps will be taken against him or her.

Criticizing BNP, the Jatiya Party secretary general said: “Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad was kept in jail for seven years without holding any trial and attempts were made to kill him. That is why the Jatiya Party does not corroborate BNP but supports Awami League in forming the government.”

Party’s presidium members Md Hafiz Uddin, Sunil Shuvo Roy, Azam Khan, ATU Taj Rahman, Major Md Khaled Akhter (Retd) and Shafiqul Islam Sentu, advisory council members Advocate Rezaul Islam, AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Md Noman, Somnath Dey, Morshed Murad Ibrahim and Zafar Iqbal Siddique, vice-chairmen Prof Iqbal Hossain Raju, Zahirul Islam Zahir, Alamgir Sikder Loton, joint secretaries general Golam Mohammad Raju, Jahirul Alam Rubel and Didarul Kabir Didar were present on the occasion, among others.

Earlier today, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad appointed party’s presidium member Mashiur Rahman Ranga the party’s new secretary general.

The decision came a day after the Election Commission scrapped the nomination paper of party’s secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawladar for being a loan defaulter.
