DHAKA, Dec 3, 2018 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today canceled a writ
challenging the legality of appointments of chief election commissioner and
other four election commissioners.

“Not placed,” said a High Court division bench comprising Justice
Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md. Ashraful Kamal.

One Delwar Hossain filed the writ on November 26, making chief election
commissioner, four election commissioners, law secretary and election
commission secretary as respondents. The writ also sought cancellation of the
gazette notification issued while appointing the commissioners.

Today advocate Eusuf Ali stood for the pleader, while deputy attorney
general Ekramul Haque Tutul moved the case for the state. After hearing both
the parties, the High Court binned the writ.
