Tight security measures in Ctg ahead 31st night
CHITTAGONG, Dec 30, 2017 (BSS) – The authorities of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and district police here have taken up tight security measures to avert any untoward incident on the occasion of 31st night and English new-Year.
RAB members will check any type of unpleasant situation on the eve of the New Year, RAB and Police sources said.
CMP sources said, they will deploy 1,550 police personnel at 121 points all over Chittagong and would set up 32 check posts in different strategic places in the metropolis.
CMP would not allow any programme in the city’s main streets on the 31st night for the sake of peaceful law and order situation, CMP sources said.
RAB will also deploy its 370 personnel in Chittagong, Cox’s bazaar, Feni and Comilla cities to maintain law and order, RAB sources said.
Besides setting up check posts in port city, 80 RAB members will be engaged at Cox’s Bazar sea beach and 120 RAB personnel will be deployed at Feni and Comilla town from this evening, RAB sources added.
Chittagong district police will also keep vigil from this afternoon by deploying over 1,120 police personal at important places including upazila headquarters under its jurisdictions on this occasion, district police officials said.
CMP and RAB sources said they would remain vigil regarding the security issues and ensure safety to the people in the area on New Year celebration.
