Taking video or photograph of voting rooms to be considered offense: EC

DHAKA, Nov 30, 2018 (BSS) – Taking video or photograph of voting rooms in the upcoming general election would be considered as criminal offenses, an official of Election Commission (EC) here today said.

Joint Secretary of EC Md Qamrul Hasan told a function for trainees on parliamentary election at the Election Bhaban at Agargaon in the city.

He said, “At first voters have to mention their identities after entering voting rooms. Presiding and other officials concerned will conduct voting process as per the electoral code of conduct for ensuring free, fair and neutral election.”

Qamrul said presiding officers would prevent any unfair practices in the voting rooms of the upcoming national election.

The presiding officers in the polling centre would hand over the fake voters to the law enforcement personnel, he said adding fake voters will be given punishment through mobile courts.

Highlighting electoral of code of conduct, he said, “Election observers would not stay in a polling centre for a long time. Presiding officers cannot give interview to the observers.”
