Classmate sued on Maldivian student death

RAJSHAHI, April 10, 2017 (BSS) – A case was lodged today against the classmate of Maldivian medical student Raudha Atif who was found dead at her dormitory of Islami Bank Medical College here on march 29.

Dr Muhammad Atif, father of Raudha Atif, lodged the case with the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate this noon accusing her daughter’s classmate Sirat Parveen Mahmud, 21, who hails from Kashmir in India.

In his complaint, Muhammad Atif mentioned that the classmate broke open the door of Raudha and lowered the hanging body. Athif wrote in the complaint that she might have strangled Raudha.

His counsel Advocate Kamrul Monir said the case accuses Raudha’s classmate Sirat Parveen Mahmud, an Indian national.

Raudha, an MBBS second year student of Islami Bank Medical College in Rajshsahi, was found dead in her college dormitory room on March 29.

Later, the college authorities informed Shah Makhdum Police Station that Raudha committed suicide by hanging herself.
