Ice starts melting on Rohingya issue: Quader

COX’S BAZAR, Dec 29, 2107 (BSS) – Roads Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, also Awami League General Secretary, today said that the ice started melting on Rohingya issue.

“Refugees are facing repressions worldwide while Bangladesh is behaving like guests with the displaced Rohingyas . . . the government is working to ensure their (Rohingyas) safe and dignified repatriation to Rakhine state in Myanmar,” he said while distributing foods and blankets among Rohingyas in the Kutupalong camp here.

The minister also distributed medicine among the Rohingyas at the “Free Medical Camp” organized by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League.

At the same time, Cox’s Bazar district administration also distributed 700 packets of food and 1500 blankets among them.

Later, the minister also attended a programme of Buddhist community at Ukhiya where he urged the Buddhists to stand by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during any crisis.

He also called upon them to keep their head high to resolve any sorts of problems of Buddhist people.

Former Industries Minister Dilip Barua, Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP, Ashik Ullah Rafiq, MP, AL Deputy Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Cox’s Bazar district AL President Advocate Sirajul Mostafa and General Secretary Mujibur Rahman, among others, accompanied the minister.
