Muhith for reforming revenue sector

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2018 (BSS) – Finance Minister AMA Muhith today stressed
the need for considering three things – reducing tax exemption, eliminating
tariff price and strengthening capacity in implantation of policy –
immediately for reforming the country’s revenue sector.

“I’ve already reduced tax exemption at a large scale. But, it should be
clearly mentioned that whether the tax is exempted,” he said while addressing
a book unveiling ceremony in the capital.

The book titled, ‘Rajaswa Bhabna: Jete Hobe Bahu Dur’ (Revenue Thoughts:
Miles to Go), written by special correspondent of the Daily Samakal Abu
Kawser, was unveiled at Dhaka Club.

Chaired by National Board of Revenue (NBR) member (Income Tax Division)
Zia Uddin Mahmood, the function was addressed, among others, by Prime
Minister’s Economic Affairs adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman, former chairman of the
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Golam Rahman, former chairmen of NBR Muid
Chowdhury and Abdul Mazid, former president of the Federation of Bangladesh
Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) AK Azad, acting editor of The
Daily Samakal Mustafiz Shafi and writer of the book Abu Kawser.
