Isolated leaders in Oikyafront could not strengthen BNP: Quader

NOAKHALI, Nov 27, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul
Quader today said the isolated political leaders in Jatiya Oikyafront could
not strengthen BNP rather the party got weakened and lost public support.

“Vicious activities of derailed and isolated political leaders will not
bring any result,” he told reporters after submitting his nomination paper to
the assistant returning officer’s office in Companiganj upazila for
contesting the upcoming national election from Noakhali-5 constituency.

About the Oikyafront’s demand for resignation of the chief election
commissioner, Quader said they made such demand ahead of the election aiming
to foil the polls.

The AL general secretary claimed that BNP leader barrister Moudud Ahmed
violated the electoral code of conduct by staging a showdown with his party
leaders and workers.

“But I did not do this. I have come here by my personal vehicle. I did not
use the government one,” he said.

Quader said the crying of the BNP’s secretary general at the nomination
distribution ceremony proved the party’s isolation from the people. BNP has
become an isolated party by losing public support, he added.

AL general secretary of Feni district unit Nizam Uddin Hazari, Basurhat
municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, Companiganj Upazila Parishad chairman
Mizanur Rahman Badal, Noakhali district AL vice-president Md Sahab Uddin,
Companiganj Upazila AL president Khijir Hayat Khan and its general secretary
Nur Nabi Chowdhury were, among others, present on the occasion.
