DHAKA, Nov 25, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the list of grand alliance candidates for 300 parliamentary seats would be announced formally at 3.30 pm tomorrow.

“The AL’s partners in the grand alliance would be given 65 to 70 seats,” he told a press conference, briefing journalists on updates of nominations at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office here.

Quader said the party nomination letters signed by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina were distributed among the selected AL candidates in 230 seats at the party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office to contest the upcoming 11th parliamentary election slated for December 30.

The AL general secretary said the party candidates were given nomination letters in those seats where other partners of the alliance do not have strong candidates or the AL has strong candidates.

“We have discussed seat sharing with the alliance partners. Awami League candidates have been finalized in 230 seats. Nomination letters were given to party candidates in those seats,” he said.

Quader said though the party nomination letters have been given for 230 seats, changes could be made where necessary.

So, letters of consent of candidature withdrawal with signatures have also been received side by side with providing the nomination letters, he said.

The AL general secretary said BNP is making offensive comments one after another against the Election Commission, the administration and the police to make them questionable to create an unstable situation in the country to fish in the muddled water.

He said BNP must be defeated in the parliamentary election as the people do not support the anti-liberation forces.

AL Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Organising Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Barrister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Central Working Committee Member SM Kamal Hossain and Marufa Akhter Poppy were present at the press conference.
