DHAKA, Nov 23, 2018 (BSS)- Debutante off-spinner Nayeem Hasan took himself
in a new heights as he achieved a world record with his five-wicket haul on
the second day of the ongoing first Test against West Indies at the Zahur
Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.

Thanks to his impressive figures of 14-2-61-5 in the first innings which
helped Bangladesh to dismiss West Indies their first innings at 246. Nayeem
has become the youngest bowler ever in the history of Test cricket taking
five wickets on his debut Test.

The off-spinner claimed the wicket of Jomel Warrican to complete his five-
wicket haul. He overtook Pat Cummins’s record– the Australia paceman
achieved the feat aged 18 years 193 days– to become the youngest to attain
the record.

Nayeem also broke the record held by Enamul Haque Jr, who had grabbed five
wickets against Zimabwe in 2005 at the age of 18 years and 32 days, to become
Tigers’ youngest to achieve the feat.

The local lad, currently aged 17 years and 356 days had already made a
notable contribution with the bat on the first day to kept his wicket unhurt
on Day one.

He is the eighth Bangladesh player to get five wickets in debut with off-
spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz being the last player to have achieved the feat
when he claimed six wickets against England in 2016.

Nayeem is now fourth in the all-time list of youngest player to take five
wickets in an innings as well.
