DHAKA, Nov 18, 2018 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today urged
all concerned not to hold any open air function on the 31st night to welcome
the English New Year-2019 due to security reason on the occasion of
parliamentary election scheduled to be held on December 30 next.

“No function in open space and even rooftop of a house will be allowed on
31st night as the 11th parliamentary election is scheduled to be held on
December 30 next,” he told reporters at his Secretariat office here after a
meeting on security on Christmas Day and 31st night.

“Restriction has also been imposed on arranging DJ (Disk Jockey) parties
and exploding crude bombs as well as crackers to celebrate the day,” the home
minister said.

He said no outsider except teachers and students of Dhaka University (DU)
will be allowed entering the DU campus on the 31st night.

Asaduzzaman said special security measures will be taken at over 3,500
churches across the country for peaceful celebration of the Christmas Day,
the birthday of Jesus Christ, on December 25.

Archways will be set up at entry points of all the churches to ensure
foolproof security, he said.
