BSS Managing Editor Shahriar Shahid passes away

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2018 (BSS) – Managing Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Shahriar Shahid, who was undergoing treatment at a city hospital, passed away around 1.50pm today.

He was 55.

Shahriar, son of former editor of now defunct Bangladesh Times AKM Shahidul Haque, was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in the city on November 14 following a heart attack. He was undergoing treatment at critical care unit (CCU).

Shahriar Shahid is survived by his wife and only son.

His body will be kept at the mortuary of BIRDEM Hospital till November 19. The burial will take place after arrival of his two sisters from Canada.

On November 19 morning, his body will be taken to his workplace BSS at Purana Paltan.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zohr prayers on Monday at the National Press Club.

Shahriar wrote over 30 books based-on the interviews of the gallantry award winning freedom fighters.

He also made some documentaries on the Liberation War. He also wrote region-based history of Liberation War.
