Juktofront will join AL-led alliance: Quader

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh-led Juktofront will participate in the upcoming national elections under the AL-led alliance.

He came up with the remark at a press conference at AL President’s Dhanmondi political office after a meeting of the Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) held with AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

About finalising the AL nominations, the AL general secretary said they have reports of 5-6 surveys carried out by different agencies on the probable candidates in their hands and the ALPB members are scrutinising the reports.

Quader said the nominations will be finalised within two or three days. “We’re taking our time to choose our candidates as the election date has deferred to December 30 from December 23,” he said.

Other components of the AL-led alliance may get 65-70 seats in the 11th parliamentary elections, Quader said and adding, “However, the seat sharing among components of the alliance may vary as the electable candidates will be given nomination”.

A 39-party alliance, including two registered political parties, came today to join the AL-led grand alliance, the AL general secretary said, adding, “Juktofront must stay with alliance”.

However, the nomination giving process has yet not begum formally, he added.
