Navy chief returns home from India
DHAKA, Nov 15, 2018 (BSS) – Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed returned home today from India after taking part in a seminar titled ‘Indian Ocean Naval Symposium’ (IONS) at Kochi.
Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) and Naval Administrative Authority Dhaka welcomed Nizamuddin at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here, said an ISPR press release.
Member states of the IONS took part in the two-day event held on November 13 -14 at Kochi in India, the release added.
In the seminar, discussions were held on further strengthening the mutual supports and maritime cooperation among the countries of the Indian Ocean region.
It is expected that this seminar will play an important role for the member states in achieving economic prosperity utilizing the Blue-Economy concept, the release said.
During his visit, the Navy Chief paid a courtesy call on his Indian counterpart and exchanged views with the naval high officials of the other member states of the IONS.
Earlier, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed left here for India on November 12.
