4,023 aspirants collect AL nomination papers

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 4,023 aspirants have collected nomination forms to get the Awami League (AL) ticket for contesting the upcoming 11th general elections with party’s election symbol ‘boat’ as nomination papers selling concluded today.

“Tomorrow is the last day for submitting the nomination papers. A total of 4,023 people have collected nomination papers for contesting the upcoming general elections with election symbol ‘boat’,” AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said at a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office here.

However, the final list of the AL candidates is likely to be published on November 15 following an interview of the aspirants with the party’s Parliamentary Board on November 14.

AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair the board.

AL Joint General Secretaries Jahangir Kabir Nanok and Dr Dipu Moni, Organizing Secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Shree Sujit Roy Nandi and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were present at the press conference, among others.

Earlier, the AL’s nomination paper selling was started on November 9 at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office in the city with collecting nomination paper for the party President Sheikh Hasina.

On the first day of nomination paper selling, 1329 people have collected nomination papers, 1132 on the second day, 835 on the third day and 727 have collected the nomination papers on the last day.

Each aspirant has paid Taka 30,000 for getting a nomination paper while the party has earned 12,06,90,000 from the nomination paper sale.
