Nasim hails Oikyafront’s decision to contest polls: Nasim

DHAKA, Nov 11, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister and Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim, MP, today hailed the decision of the BNP-led Jatiya Oikyafront for taking part in the 11th parliamentary polls, slated for December 23.

“I congratulate the Oikyafront as it took a right and time-befitting decision over contesting the next polls,” the health minister said while speaking at a seminar on “Clinical management of Image result for thalassemia” at Mohakhali here.

The minister said the election is an important element to continue the democratic culture and the optimum development of a country is possible through democratic process.

Referring to the development in health sector during the AL is in office, Nasim said, “Country witnessed a tremendous development in health sector . . . Infrastructural works worth about Taka 5,000 crore were completed during this AL government”

Noting that the present government at a time recruited 10,000 nurses breaking all world records, the health minister said, “We will complete recruiting seven thousand physicians by December this year.”

Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad presided over the seminar.

Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, Thalassemia Foundation secretary general Abdur Rahim, among others, spoke on the occasion.
