Nation in festive mood centering general polls: Maya

CHANDPUR, Nov 10, 2018 (BSS)- People of the country are now in a festive mood as they are counting downing the date of the election to elect their chosen candidates through ballots, Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said today.

“The nation is now in the grip of festivity centering the ensuing election. . .People are now waiting for the election date to choose their candidates… But a vested quarter is out to foil the polls,” he said, speaking at a yard meeting (Uthan Boithak) with local leaders at his Matlab residence here.

Maya said some leaders, isolated from people, are trying to serve their ulterior motive by cashing on in lofty talks while a vested quarter is hatching conspiracies centering the polls.

He urged the Awami League leaders and activists to remain alert against intrigues.

The minister said fundamentalist forces are used to repress the minorities whenever the election takes place. “We should remain alert against those fundamentalists and resist them,” he added.

Maya said the country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build Bangabandhu’s ‘Sonar Bangla’.

Local AL leaders were present in the meeting.
