14-party-LDA dialogue begins

DHAKA, Nov 6, 2018 (BSS) – A dialogue between the Awami League-led 14-party alliance and the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) kicked off at Ganabhaban here this evening.

“The talks between the two alliances on the 11th national elections began at Banquet Hall of Ganabhaban at 7:15 pm,” an official familiar with the event said.

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is leading a 23-member delegation of the 14-party alliance, while a 16-member LDA team is being led by CPB President Muzahidul Islam Selim.

The LDA comprises eight leftist parties. They are Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Basod), Ganasanghati Andolan, Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Bangladesh United Communist League, Ganatantrik Biplobi Party and Samajtantrik Andolan.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Awami League-led 14-party alliance held talks with 12 prominent Islamic parties at Ganabhaban.

They included Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ), Bangladesh Khelfat Andolan, Bangladesh Muslim League, Bangladesh Jalali Party, Ashekine Awalia Oikya Parishad Bangladesh, Zaker Party, Bangladesh Jatiya Islami Jote (BNIA), Bangladesh Sammilito Islami Jote and Islamic Democratic Alliance.

Earlier, Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front (JOF) sat for the dialogue with the Prime Minister on November 1, while Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury-led Jukta Front joined talks on November 2, leaders of 14-party on November 4, and HM Ershad-led United National Alliance (UNA) on November 5.

But Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front will sit for dialogue again with the 14-party alliance at 11 am at Ganabhaban tomorrow.
