BNP leader Tariqul Islam laid to rest
JASHORE, Nov 05, 2018 (BSS) – BNP Standing Committee member and former information minister Tariqul Islam was laid to eternal rest after Asr prayers at Karbala Graveyard in the district town.
He was buried after his fourth namaz-e-janaza held at Jashare Central Eidgah ground.
Earlier, his body was flown to Jashore from Dhaka by a helicopter. From the airport, his body was taken to his residence in Jashore town to enable his relatives, neighbors and admirers to have a last glimpse of him.
Earlier, a namaj-e-janaza of Tariqul Islam was held in front of BNP’s central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan area this morning.
Leaders of BNP, 20-party alliance, Jatiya Oikya Front and well-wishers joined the janaza and paid tributes to Tariqul Islam by placing wreaths on his coffin there.
After the janaza at Nayapaltan, the body was taken to the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban where the second Namaz-e-Janaza was held.
JS Chief Whip ASM Feroz, Opposition Chief Whip Nurul Islam Omar, Shamsul Islam Tuku, MP, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and LDP Chairman Oli Ahmed, among others, attended the janaza.
BNP Standing Committee member Tariqul passed away at a city hospital on Sunday at the age of 72.
