IGP inaugurates own building of SB Intelligence School in the city

DHAKA, Nov 05, 2018 (BSS)- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Md Jabed Patwary today said that the intelligence officials could play a vital role towards the country’s development by collecting and providing intelligence information to the government.

“The intelligence officials of the Special Branch (SB) have been playing very important roles in curbing militancy and terrorism and maintaining peace and law and order,” he said while inaugurating the newly-constructed own SB Intelligence School in Uttara area.

Chaired by Additional Inspector General of Police (Adi-IGP) of Special Branch Mir Shahidul Islam, the function was attended, among others, by Additional IGP Finance and Development Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Director General (DG) of the Industrial Police Md Abdus Salam and Additional IGP Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) Md Shafiqul Islam.

The IGP said the SB intelligence officials have been discharging their duties at all Key Point Installations (KPIs), important government and private establishments and foreign missions here round the clock.

They ( intelligence officials) have been overseeing three international airports, 21 land ports, three sea ports, two railway immigration check posts and all immigration check points across the country, he added.

The SB Intelligence school began its journey in 1992 with imparting training to 248 officials in eight batches. In 2017, a total of 2411 officials were given intelligence training in 80 batches under 25 courses.
