Tough action if any one creates unrest after polls schedule: Kamal

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2018 (BSS)- Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said that tough actions would be taken against those who would try to create unrest and anarchy in the country after the announcement of schedule for the next general elections.

“After the announcement of the polls schedule, the law enforcers would be under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission (EC),” he said while replying to a question from a journalist at the old Dhaka Central Jail at Nazim Uddin Road here this morning.

The minister along with Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, former home minister Advocate Sahara Khatun and younger son of Syed Nazrul Islam Major General (Retd) Shafayetul Islam went there to pay homage to the portrait of four national leaders.

“No one would be spared if any one tries to create any unrest or anarchic situation in the country after announcement of the polls schedule,” he said adding that our law-enforcement agencies are now quiet capable of and well-equipped to deal with any situation.

The four national leaders-Syed Nazrul Islam, Tazuddin Ahmed, M Mansur Ali and AHM Kamaruzzaman- were brutally killed in the then central jail on this day in 1975 after 78 days of the brutal killing of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The four national leaders led the country’s War of Liberation in absentia of the Father of the Nation.
