HSIA flight operation suspended for 6 hours

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2017 (BSS) – All flight operations were suspended at Hazrat
Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital for six hours today.

“For the third consecutive nights, we’re forced to suspended flight
operations due to dense fog from 3.30 am to 9.30am,” Civil Aviation Authority
of Bangladesh (CAAB) spokesperson AKM Rezaul Karim told BSS.

During the period, he said, a US-Bangla airlines flight from Singapore was
diverted to Chittagong while an Etihad cargo aircraft could not land at
around 4 am.

Karim said the domestic flight operation was resumed at 9.30 am while
international flights at 10.15 am.

Besides, departing flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Itehad and Saudi
Airlines were stuck at Shahjalal Airport due to the dense fog.
Those flights were departed after 10.30 am this morning, he said.

Apart from international flights, a number of early morning domestic flights
were delayed due to fog.

As per the weather forecast, moderate to thick fog may occur over the country
in next two days.
