19th session of JS to begin Jan 7

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2017 (BSS) – The 19th session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) will begin at 4 pm on January 7, 2018.

President Abdul Hamid summoned the session today exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of article 72 of the constitution.

President Hamid will deliver his speech on the first day as this will be the first session of 2018.

Parliament secretariat sources said the duration and proceedings of the 19th session will be finalized at a meeting of the business advisory committee of the parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair on January 7.

With the passing of three bills, the 18th session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) was prorogued on November 23 after 10 sittings since November 12, 2017.

A total of 286 notices under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure were received, and, of them, 15 notices were accepted.

Movers of 105 notices got the opportunity to speak for two minutes each under Rule 71 (a) of the Rules of Procedure.
