Recital artist Ranjit passes away

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 30, 2018 (BSS) – Distinguished recital performer and freedom fighter Ranjit Rakhxit died of brain hemorrhage at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) this afternoon at the age of 70 years.

Rakhxit, Vice-President of District Shilpakola Academy and Presidium member of Bangladesh Abritti Somonnoy Parishad, left behind his wife, two sons, admirers and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

The death of Rakhxit, also a teacher of Chattogram Municipal Model High School, cast a pall of gloom in the literary, socio-cultural and literary arena.

Son of late revolutionary Jatindra Mohan Rakhxit of Boalkhali upazila of the district, Ranjit was imprisoned during 1965 Education Movement by Pakistani ruler.

He also took part in the country’s liberation war in 1971 and was a member of Bangladesh Muktijuddha Sangram Sohayak Samiti.

He was cremated at Blowardighi crematory tonight.
