EC cancels Jamaat’s registration
DHAKA, Oct 29, 2018 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) today canceled the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami in line with a High Court verdict.
The EC has made the move following a High Court verdict that declared Jamaat-e-Islami’s registration “illegal” on writ petition.
In a gazette published today, the EC canceled Jamaat’s registration as per “the sub clause (4) of Article 90H of Representation of the People Order, 1972 (as amended up to date)”.
