Journo recall contribution of CUJ ex-president Yousuf

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 28, 2018 (BSS)- Journalists at a memorial meeting here
today paid glowing tributes to former president of Chattogram Union of
Journalists (CUJ) Mohammad Yousuf and recalled his immense contribution
towards objective journalism.

The speakers said Yousuf worked for flourishing education, culture and
literature of the region.

Organised by Chattogram Press Club (CPC), the memorial meeting was held at
the CPC auditorium with its President Kolim Sarwar in the chair.

The ex-CUJ president had been remained neutral in his profession and
impartial in terms of the existence and basic principles of the state,
sovereignty, sprit and ideals of the Liberation War, secularism, democracy
and development.

President of Chattogram Union Of journalists (CUJ) Nazim Uddin Shyamol,
vice-president of Bangladesh Federal Union of journalists Reaz Haider
Chowdhury, CPC secretary Suklal Das, late Yousuf’s cousin and councillor of
Chattogram City Corporation Tareq Solaiman Selim, CPC joint secretary
Chowdhury Farid, treasurer Dev Dulal Bhoumik, senior journalists Saber Ahmed
Azgory, Moinuddin Quaderi Showkat, M Nasirul Hoque, Ezaj Yousufi, Shahidul
Alam and Abu Taher spoke, among others, on the occasion.

Yusuf stepped into journalism in 1960s. He had worked in the first daily of
the independent Bangladesh ‘The Daily Azadi’ for long.

Besides, he had also worked in the daily Sangbad, Azad, Insaf, Jamana,
Banglar Bani and Bangladesh Betar.

He had been President of Chattogram chapter of Khelaghor, a juvenile
organisation of the leftist Communist Party of Bangladesh for long.
