Nobody would remain homeless in the country: PM

SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 24, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said
her government has undertaken massive programmes through different
ministries/departments/authorities to bring all people under housing facility.

“As per the government’s major commitment, every people would get housing facility,”
she said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Enamul
Haque of Rajshahi-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The Prime Minister said that the government completed construction of 2,399 plots
through 12 projects and 919 residential flats through five flat projects across different
districts/upazilas in the country.

“Presently there are 3,084 plots under 20 plot projects and 7,079 flats under 18 flat
projects which are now under implementation. The government has undertaken new more
3,017 plots of 16 plot projects 19,918 flats of 19 flat projects for providing housing
facility to homeless people,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina informed the House that the government has built 30,744 houses by
providing with Taka 191.96 crore as loan at a 5.5 percent rate of interest at client level
from July 2009 to September 2018 for homeless, poor and lower income group people
aimed at mitigating residential crisis.

In the meantime, the government brought 65,710 people under housing facility by
constructing 13,142 houses through disbursing Taka 92 crore till September 2018 from
March 15, 2016 following the announcement of ‘Houses for All’, she said.
