DHAKA, Dec 18, 2017 (BSS) – Japanese labour market for Bangladeshi workers will be opened up as Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam yesterday said trained workers would be send to Japan soon.
“Japan has showed interest to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh and a MoU will be signed between Bangladesh and Japan within a few days,” the minister told a press conference at the ministry’s conference room on the eve of International Migrants Day 2017 that falls today.
A permanent Japanese language training center was also inaugurated today at the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Ministry.
Nurul Islam informed that some 9.73 lakh Bangladeshi workers including some 1.18 lakh female workers got employment opportunities in various countries of the world this year, which was also the highest of anytime.
He also hoped that over 10 lakh Bangladeshi workers would get employment opportunities abroad in the current year.
“We’ve been working to ensure the rights and protection of the female migrant workers following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added.
The minister said training is being imparted to the aspirant overseas job seekers of 22 out of 42 districts which are lagging behind in migration.
Such training would also be expanded soon to 20 districts which are witnessing less migration.
He also informed that his ministry has taken elaborate programme to celebrate the International Migrants Day 2017 with the theme “Nirapad Obhibason Jekhane, Teksoi Unnayan Sekhane”.
Nurul Islam said that rallies and discussion meetings would be held in every district marking the day alongside conducting awareness campaigns under the auspices of local administrations.
The main programme of the day will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on this morning. Earlier, a rally will bring out from the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad.
