Agreement signed to ensure cyber security

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2018 (BSS) – An agreement was signed today between Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under ICT Division and Microsoft to ensure cyber security.

Tareq M Barkatullah, Director of National Data Centre of BCC and Mark Eastberg, Director of Microsoft Digital Crime Unit signed the agreement at a function on behalf of their respective sides, an official release said. The function was held in the auditorium of BCC.

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and top officials of Microsoft, among others, were present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Jabbar said, “It is very crucial to ensure cyber security for building a digital Bangladesh…. The agreement with the Microsoft will play a significant role in strengthening our national security through identification cyber security threat.”

The deal also will play an important role in imparting education on digital security, the minister said adding, “It is really a challenge for Bangladesh to ensure cyber security as it is a global phenomenon….. Digital security is closely linked to state machinery, privacy of individuals and trade and commerce.”

Bangladesh has achieved capability for ensuring digital security, the minister said adding, “We have formulated a digital security act… The law will create a technology-friendly ambience, which will protect interest of all.”
